Yesterday, we stopped in at a new restaurant here in the cities for a birthday happy hour and a delicious meal. It’s a Southern spot with crazy good mac and cheese, fried chicken and pimento cheese. They had a hot sauce on the table that I totally fell in love with, Sweet Potato Habanero Sauce. It was amazing! Spicy, sweet and super flavorful. We poured it over everything, but secretly I wanted to tuck the bottle in my purse for later.
Never fear, I hacked the recipe so no one has to lift a bottle of hot sauce. The lime, vinegar and sweet potato help to balance the fiery heat of the habanero. Yes, its super spicy but feel free to reduce the habanero for a not-so-fiery version.
