Happy New Year Friends! We celebrated the new year with a quiet night in. It was too cold to even bother to venture out anyway, wind chills around -30 made staying home a much more appealing option! We welcomed 2018 with pizza, Netflix and a bottle of bubbly and it was just what we needed.
While everyone else is tackling the Whole 30 or a sugar-free month, my goal for the year is to just do more of the things that make me happy. Life is too darn short to keep doing things that just don’t bring you joy. So, here’s to a year of more of the things we all need right now – family, friends, love, laughter, adventure, happiness, good food and cocktails.
Speaking of cocktails! I made you a B&H version of one of my favorite classic cocktails, the Old Fashioned. The classic version is super simple, just a sugar cube, bitters, whiskey and water and yes, it’s a classic for a reason. It’s simple and oh so perfectly balanced, especially when using the best ingredients you can get your hands on.
But, you know me and my need to tinker, customize and recreate. So, I swapped the classic sugar cube (where can you find those anyway?) for a honey simple syrup and added a few fresh garnishes to boot. It’s an Old Fashioned Cocktail, with a few free bonus ingredients thrown in for good measure and yes, it’s still simple and totally delicious. So simple you can make it in about 35 seconds! Don’t believe me? Check out my video below!
