With a crisp bite in the air today, I sadly think last weekend may have been the last hurrah of summer here in Minnesota. On Saturday, we hopped in the car for a mini road trip up North of the Twin Cities. Not for scuba diving this time, just a fun weekend at a friend’s cabin on the lake. We kayaked, canoed, swam, ate, drank and hiked all weekend long.
Here’s a sneak peek of the weekend:
This funny looking dog is Dudley, my sister’s pup. She’s a Puli with hair that looks like a dirty mop. A cute dirty mop, if there is such a thing. Oddly enough, she actually likes to camp.
We spent our time lazily swimming around and awkwardly canoeing and kayaking with a big puppy on my lap. (Nugget obviously has some serious attachment issues!)
The fish weren’t biting but it was a gorgeous weekend to stand around in the sunshine anyway.
I even got a bit of work done and edited some photos for the blog.
Food, as always, was top of mind all weekend and boy did we eat! Delicious end-of-summer BLT’s, pork chops, corn on the cob, caprese pasta salads and roasted veggies were all devoured at this table.
Peach Bellinis were sipped, stories were told and we laughed at a lot of dumb jokes. A Bellini recipe will be coming your way shortly!
The peaceful evening sunset was a lovely bonus. A much needed quiet weekend at the lake.
A relaxing weekend isn’t complete without a bit of off-roading, right? But of course! My sister and her husband tested out their new vehicle in the trails near the cabin and made quite a mess! Check out their video…
