The 4th of July has always been a big deal around my house. We’ve usually celebrated at the lake with family and friends, enjoying the peak of summer. Always accompanied by burgers that were waaaay too big, watermelon slices speckled with seeds (for spitting of course) and popsicles that dripped down our arms and made us a sticky mess. The thing is, messy food is acceptable at the lake, or any beach for that matter, because after a quick dip in the water you’re back to your respectable sun-kissed self.
I’ve pulled together a collection of some 4th of July celebration-ready recipes that your family and friends will love. Yes, they’re messy. Yes, they’re probably too big or slightly over the top but, that’s what summer celebrations are all about.
