A delicious holiday recipe for Bourbon Milk Punch made with bourbon whiskey, half-and-half, honey syrup and nutmeg.
A few years ago, I worked with a tiny Peruvian woman who would spend hours making a big batch of eggnog each year around the holidays. It was so strong that just a sip or two would warm your belly and put a smile on your face. Her recipe was long, time-consuming but so delicious. Being a bigger fan of bourbon than rum and lazier than my Peruvian pal, I make milk punch for the holidays instead of her famous eggnog.
Milk punch is a simple, egg free, fuss free version of eggnog. Most recipes call for powdered sugar or simple syrup, but of course I’ve swapped that out for a honey syrup flavored with vanilla. Pour any left over syrup into a jar with a tight-fitting lid. It can be stored in the fridge for up to a month and used in anything that calls for simple syrup.
Enjoy the holidays with a cup (or two) of milk punch, just remember to don your ugly sweater first!
Too cold for a chilly drink? This punch can be served warmed in a large mug for a cozy and comforting holiday drink.
